National Awareness Week
|
 |
October 12-20 every year is the Bone and Joint Initiative's Awareness Week.
National Awareness Week is all about encouraging you to learn more about bone and joint disorders, prevention activities, and treatment options. It is also about informing you of the significant level of incidence of bone and joints conditions among Americans, from birth through adulthood.
Learn more about a particular condition The USBJI Web site offers you a clearinghouse of patient education resources from participating organizations. To learn more, click here, and then search under the condition that interests you.
How many Americans have bone and joint conditions? To learn more about the significant and increasing level of incidence of bone and joint conditions among Americans, click here. The underlying point - we must increase the level of research to find more and better ways to treat bone and joint conditions.
Activities To learn about activities during National Awareness Week, and if any activities are planned in your state or local community, click here. Activity listings are updated weekly so come back and visit us regularly.
Ask your doctor or healthcare professional Your doctor or other healthcare professional may have information on the Initiative and bone and joint conditions he or she can give to you. If they don't, ask them to contact the U.S. Bone and Joint Initiative at [email protected]. We will happily send them brochures, posters, buttons, stickers to give to you.
Patients If you wish to participate --- for example by telling your story at an event, in a news story, or by providing a testimonial --- to help others understand more about bone and joint conditions, about preventing a bone or joint condition, or to learn about treatment options, we'd love to hear from you. Please email [email protected].
