USBJI’s Mission
The US Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) advocates and promotes multidisciplinary, coordinated, and patient-centered care to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions.
With your support the USBJI will continue to:
- Offer no-cost educational programs for patients and the public, to learn how to manage arthritis, prevent fractures, lessen pain, and improve mobility and function. At live sessions, provided without charge, participants learn from a healthcare professional and have the opportunity to ask questions and learn about the latest scientific knowledge.
- Provide essential data on the prevalence, societal and economic costs of bone and joint disorders, used by researchers, and to inform health policy. Our Burden of Musculoskeletal Diseases in the US (BMUS) illustrates the magnitude of these disorders and how they are woven through our lives, and those of our friends, colleagues, family and neighbors. Your support enables this information to be made available at no charge to make it accessible to all.
- Provide career counselling and mentor Young Investigators who wish to pursue a career in research. Our Young Investigators Initiative program helps ensure there are funded researchers who will develop our knowledge about bone and joint disorders, how to prevent them, and improve treatment.
- Foster multi-disciplinary approaches to improve the care of people with bone and joint disorders, to improve instruction to medical students and healthcare professionals who will see people with these disorders but are not specialists in this area, and to raise the priority of these disorders among the public and policy makers, through our General Fund.
Gifts can also be made in honor of the late Toby King, USBJI's longtime executive director.
Gifts made to the United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The USBJI is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization.
